The late 1830s, though a difficult period in the personal life of Robert Schumann, saw the emergence of some very bright piano works. Here Fabrizio Chiovetta presents three of them, illustrating different aspects of the composer’s poetic style. We find Schumann free and passionate in the Fantasie, dedicated to Liszt, lyrical and intimate in the Arabeske, then simple and tender in the Kinderszenen, in which, after all the games and caprices and childhood frolics, the poet finally speaks.

Période difficile dans la vie personnelle de Robert Schumann, la fin des années 1830 voit pourtant l’éclosion de pages lumineuses pour le piano. Fabrizio Chiovetta en réunit trois dans cet enregistrement déployant, à la manière d’un triptyque, les facettes de la poétique schumanienne. On y voit le compositeur tantôt libre et fougueux dans la Fantaisie, dédiée à Liszt, tantôt lyrique et intimiste dans l’Arabeske, puis naïf et tendre dans les Kinderszenen où, derrière les jeux, caprices et péripéties enfantins, le poète se dévoile.
